Choosing a Mindset Coach is a significant investment of your time and resources. Naturally, you want to ensure that you are making the right choice. While many of the big topics are covered in my other blogs, there are specific questions about results, research, and logistics that I get asked frequently.

What are your success rates?
As a professional with a clinical background, I avoid giving pulled-from-thin-air percentages. Beware of any coach who promises a 100% success rate. In a human-centric profession, that is simply not something they can know for sure.
Success is a collaborative effort. My success rate depends as much on your commitment and willingness to put in the work as it does on my expertise. What I can tell you is this: The vast majority of my clients who complete the full 5-session package report a significant shift in their ability to handle pressure and execute their goals.

Accredited & Insured: I maintain full professional indemnity insurance and hold active memberships with the Association for Coaching (AC), the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AFSFH).
Clinical Supervision: To ensure the highest level of client care, I undergo regular 1-to-1 supervision with senior practitioners.
Continuous Development: I commit to a minimum of 30 hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) annually to stay at the forefront of neuroscience and performance psychology.
Data Protection: I am fully GDPR compliant and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ensuring your private data is handled with the highest security.
Is there research supporting Mindset Coaching?
Yes, 100%.
In our sessions, we won’t just be having a chat! We will be using Applied Neuroscience to address the three core layers of your performance.
An analogy we can use is that of a professional racing team:
1. The Driver’s Manual (Executive Function): This involves the Prefrontal Cortex—the part of your brain responsible for strategy, goal-setting, and accountability.
The Evidence: Research published in the British Journal of Health Psychology showed that participants with a specific ‘when and where’ plan (Implementation Intentions) were over four times more likely to follow through than those with just a standard goal. We use this to ensure your mindset shifts translate into real-world wins.
2. The Mechanic’s Toolkit (Neuroplasticity & NLP): NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is based on the principle of Neuroplasticity—the scientifically proven ability of the brain to reorganise itself by forming new neural connections.
The Evidence: A major 2023 meta-analysis (a study of studies) published in the journal Psychotherapy examined the impact of Cognitive Restructuring—the core mechanism behind the ‘Reframing’ tools we use in our sessions.
The Result: The study found a Large Effect Size (d = 0.85). In layman’s terms, this means that the techniques are highly effective at identifying and correcting the mental ‘bugs’ (e.g. limiting beliefs) that hold us back.
The Application: Whether we are overcoming the fear of presenting in work or the anxiety of a big sports match coming up, the biological lever is the same. We aren't just talking; we are actively updating the mental software that creates your results.
3. The Diagnostic Computer (Subconscious Repatterning): Most talk coaching stays on the surface. To get real results, we have to access the subconscious ‘software’ where your automatic habits and blind spots live.
The Evidence: Research from Stanford University shows that by bypassing the ‘Critical Factor’ (the conscious noise and overthinking), we can access the brain's deeper processing units.
The Application: By using advanced NLP techniques we will perform ‘Rapid Re-coding.’ This allows us to identify and fix any ‘bugs’ in your mental software in minutes—things that might take months to talk through at a conscious level. We aren't just discussing the problem; we are updating the brain’s code.
4. Accessing the ‘Flow State’ (The Zone): My methods incorporate the ground-breaking research of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi regarding Flow - the psychology of optimal experience. Flow is that state of ‘effortless attending’ where you are so immersed in a task that your self-consciousness vanishes and your performance peaks.
The Evidence: Based on over 40 years of research, Flow occurs when there is a perfect balance between the challenge of the task and your skill level.
The Application: In our sessions, we align your conscious strategy with your subconscious beliefs. This removes the internal friction (e.g. the overthinking and self-doubt) that usually prevents you from entering the Flow State. We aren't just trying to work harder; we are setting the conditions for you to work better.
How do I prepare for a Mindset Coaching session?
Because we will work 100% online via Zoom, preparation is simple:
A Private Space: Ensure you won't be interrupted for the session.
Tech Check: A stable internet connection and headphones are recommended for the best experience.
Adopt a Coaching Mindset: Arrive ready to be challenged. We will get to work straight away!
Who Whitaker Mindset Coaching Is (And Is NOT) For
To ensure we get the best results, it’s important to be clear about the ‘Coaching Contract’ we enter into. My approach is high-intensity and results-driven, which means it isn’t the right fit for everyone.
I am likely NOT the coach for you if:
You want a passive venting session: While I am a supportive listener, my role is to be your Mindset Coach, not just a shoulder to cry on. If you want to talk about the same problems for months without changing your approach, we won't be a good match.
You aren't ready to be challenged: If relevant, I will kindly but directly point out the thinking loops and ‘bugs’ in your current mindset. Growth happens at the edge of your comfort zone, and you need to be willing to step there.
You are looking for a Quick Fix without the work: I provide the tools and the strategy, but you are the one ‘driving the car.’ You have to be willing to put in the work between our sessions.
You are currently in a mental health crisis: As covered in my ‘Coaching vs. Therapy’ post, if your tank feels empty due to a current mental health crisis, you need the restorative care of a therapist first. As a Mindset Coach, I am here to optimise performance, not to provide clinical crisis intervention.
However, we will be a perfect fit if:
You have a High-Achiever Mindset: You have big goals and you're frustrated that your 'internal programming’ is slowing you down.
You Value Precision: You don't want fluffy advice; you want to understand why you're stuck and how move forwards.
