When people think of coaching or therapy, they often imagine a leather sofa in a quiet, dimly lit office. There’s nothing wrong with that at all – in fact, I worked in-person as a clinical hypnotherapist for many years. But I don’t believe it’s necessary - working online has many advantages which we’ll look at next…
How Does Online Mindset Coaching Compare to In-Person Sessions?
Two of the most common questions I hear are:
1. "Will I lose the 'coaching connection' if we aren't in the same room?"
2. “Will it be less effective if we’re not together in-person?”
The short answer to both is no. In fact, research into "e-coaching" and online therapy suggests that the working alliance is just as strong—and in some cases, more effective—than face-to-face meetings. Here’s why:
The Comfort of Your Own Space: Mindset coaching isn’t always an easy process...
You need to be ready to be really honest with yourself – what needs to change for you to start seeing the results you want?
Keep doing the same things or thinking the same way and you’ll keep getting the same results…
You are much more likely to relax and open up in your own space than in a clinical, unfamiliar environment.
Zero Commute Stress: If you’re coming to me for performance anxiety or corporate burnout, the last thing you need is a 45-minute battle with traffic before our session. Online coaching allows you to transition from your day to our session with a clear head.
Flexibility: Session times can be much more flexible for online rather than in-person sessions. This allows us to fit them in at a time that suits us both.
Global Expertise, Local Access: Because I work online, I can work with elite athletes and executives across the UK and beyond. You aren't limited to the best coach in your town—you get the best coach for your specific needs, regardless of geography.
How Long Do Sessions Last?
In keeping with my 5-session transformation package, we prioritise quality over quantity.
Session Length: Each mindset coaching session lasts 50 minutes.
The Mindset Strategy Session: Your initial Free Strategy Session is slightly shorter, lasting approximately 20–30 minutes.
This is a focused discovery call to map your goals and ensure we are the right fit before you commit to a package.
I’ve found that 50 minutes is the sweet spot. It is long enough to do the powerful mindset work needed, but short enough to remain intense and actionable without causing mental fatigue.
Is It Safe and Private?
I use professional, encrypted video software (typically Zoom) to ensure our conversations remain strictly confidential.
Because there is no waiting room, there is zero chance of bumping into anyone you know!
It is the ultimate form of privacy for those who value total discretion.
When could online coaching be a problem? What issues could there be?
There are only two real issues that could come up with online coaching:
1. A Bad Internet Connection: That’s why I always recommend a quiet space with strong Wi-Fi. If the tech fails, we simply reconnect and carry on.
2. Being Interrupted by Family or Colleagues: I always ask clients to treat the online space as they would a physical office—shut the door, put your phone on silent, block out your calendar and give yourself this time to focus 100% on the session.
